Warm and reassuring, “Holding On” is a family love song, a blend of folk and a hint of country. Andrew Shaver recalls the making of the song: “In the days before our little family trio became a quartet, bedtimes with Auden lingered on. One night as I was leaving his room, I heard him whisper to his mom “come lay with me a minute, we can be with our dreams”. She stayed, of course, and I knew right away it was the start of a song.”
The track earned a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award after topping the CBC Music Top 20 on Dec. 15. Carleton Stone, SOCAN’s East Coast ambassador, presented the band with the commemorative plaque.
