We actively engage with the federal government to ensure the most favourable conditions for our members, with a strong focus on securing fair compensation for the use of their work.
At the Copyright Board of Canada, SOCAN takes a leading role, proposing new tariffs for emerging uses of music, fighting for improved rates under existing tariffs, and standing up for our members’ rights in regulatory hearings.
When necessary, we challenge user groups or organizations whose practices undervalue or exploit our members’ creative work.
Our advocacy works to ensure that Canadian music creators are respected and fairly rewarded.
